Pat Cusack: Heading Out, East End, & Day Off
Artist Descriptions
Heading Out 16”×20” Oil Painting,2024: This one is of no particular location. I have painted many boats over the years, so I can imagine a fishing boat heading out into the ocean. I usually am looking for calm projects but in this case I was shooting for adventure.
East End 12”x24” Oil Painting. Not sure of the date. Maybe 2019 . I was invited to a Plein Aire session on our south shore. They had arranged for us to visit a farm on the Great South Bay. It was an unexpected treat as you see, its not a typical farm. They raise Alpacas. I am a strong proponent of good composition and interesting light. I think this one checks the boxes.
Day Off 16”x20” Oil Painting, finished 2019 This is a scene of some work boats in a quiet cove in Montauk Point at the very tip of Long Island captured at rest after a week on the water. Its a personal favorite of mine because of the vacation time we spent in Montauk for many years.
About The Artist:
Pat Cusack is a Long Island artist and teacher who draws heavily on the local scenery as inspiration for his nautical themed work in oils and acrylics.
He majored in fine art at Nassau Community College and Hofstra University and has painted in oils since was twelve. Don’t ask how long ago that was. Pat is and always has been a devotee of realism in art and it shows in his work.
After retiring from the business world, Pat landed as an Art Instructor at Michaels Arts and Crafts. Since 2020 when they shout down the program, he has developed a solid number of regular students at local art studios. Having sixty years of painting behind him, he now enjoys living the dream in classrooms.
